Just take the sim out of your old phone and pop it into the G4. It will work! Half the employees at the typical store will have never heard of an unlocked phone being compatible with Verizon, and the other half would rather make a commission selling you a new phone than unprofitably activating your 'unsupported' unlocked phone. If you don't have a current active Verizon phone, activating your G4 with Verizon will be more difficult. Back when the Pure X came out, there were reports of the occasional store employee activating Sims on a store model phone and then putting it in the unlocked X. I think those are rare. Your other option is scrounging up an old phone that is undeniably compatible (droid Maxx for example) and getting Verizon to activate the old phone and then swapping the sim into your G4. Above all else do NOT believe a Verizon employee's BS about the G4 not being compatible. The only thing I would add to this is that if you do activate the phone with a SIM that's a few years old, I would recommend getting a new SIM from Verizon after activation. My new Moto G4 Plus is now active on Tracfone. I first checked the Verizon compatibility on their BYOP page, and was pleased to see that (for the first time) Verizon was recognizing my IMEI number as associated with a compatible phone. I then initiated a text chat on the Tracfone site, and within 10 minutes, agent 'Rain' had used my G4's serial and IMEI numbers -- and the number on my Tracfone BYOP Sim Kit -- to successfully transfer my existing Tracfone account -- complete with remaining air time, minutes and data allotment -- to my new Moto G4 Plus. Thanks to the folks here who helped to call attention to the issue and the efforts that the forum moderator and manager apparently made to get this resolved! Much appreciated. When my G4 Plus arrived today, I popped my SIM card out of the old HTC and into the new G4 Plus using the included adapter. Everything seems to fit perfectly, but the phone says 'No SIM card - emergency calls only.' Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is a Verizon decision and you'll have to speak with them. They decide which phones they allow into their prepaid program. If they wont, you might want to look into an MVNO like Straight Talk (SIMS that use any of the Big 4's networks), and I'll bet it's a better deal, too. †Advanced nano-coating technology creates a water repellant barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water such as accidental spills, splashes or light rain.
