About 4-years late. PLE began around 2004. Thank you man. Yes I'm using the traial right now. They stoped at the beginning of last December? So I'm only a month late. That's late enough though. Well I was just thinking what if someone who has that little key ( which is free anyway ) and for whatever reson don't need Maya 7.0 PLE no more, what if I find this person and he or she alows me to use the serial number or maybe sell me the whole CD with the licence. Is that ligal? As far as I know, re-selling software privately is just as illegal as copying it from friends, because you are distributing copyrighted property from Autodesk without their permission and without them getting any money from it. I'm afraid your only fully legal options are to use the 30-day trial or to buy the software. EDIT: also, why did Autodesk stop licensing the PLE? That's really a shame, the PLE really was a HUGE advantage in learning how to use Maya, I was able to gain skills that really helped me in my career. It's impossible to learn Maya in 30 days, and how are students otherwise able to (legally) learn how to use a program that is an industry standard? When you register for the PLE, you would fill out a basic registration form. Autodesk licensed out a serial number to you. It is not to be shared - it is a license agreement between you and Autodesk that you accept by installing the software. When you say ' The license is tied ' what do you meen by that, be more specific? Yesterday while I was diging at some of my oldest CD I accidentally found out that I actually have had Maya 4.5 PLE with thae serial and everithing but unfortunately when I installed it turned on that it is expired so maybe version 7.0 won't work also. But lets say that it was not expired and I wanted to give it to someone with the serial number would that be illegal or something like that? I had no problems installing Autodesk Maya 2015 and Mudbox 2015 on Centos 7. When I installed Centos 7 I did a 'developer and graphical workstation' and included the libraries for backwards compatible software to Centos 6. Found 7 results for Maya 6.0 Activation Key. These instructions also work for installing Autodesk Mudbox as well. I've experience a rather puzzling issue with my own install of Maya 2014 on a fresh Centos 7 install. It would be great if someone more knowledgeable could lend a hand. The trouble seems to be with libtiff.so.3 when trying to launch Maya. Hey, thanks for the reply. It's appreciated. I actually did exactly that after posting this. I tried to edit the post but it hadn't been approved by the mod yet.Once I ran 'sudo yum install compat-libtiff3.x86_64 ' the install performed as expected with one exception. The programme does not want to activate. I'm hoping that someone will be kind enough to help me and others I presume, fix the issue. Details: Its a valid educational licence that works on windows. I have used the same serial and key on a Linux system before and had it activated. This is the output from the terminal when I try to launch Maya. Code: $cat /usr/autodesk/maya2014-x64/bin/License.env MAYA_LICENSE=657F1 MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD=standalone Basically the error I get from Maya activation gui is that the request to authenticate the serial has timed out. I did note that the first time I clicked the activate button it turned from red to green and confirmed the activation. It then reloaded and went back to red and asked me to activate it again. My guess is that there's a communication issue between Centos and the authentication software for Maya? I'm out of my depth in determining how to go about resolving the matter from here however. Any help or ideas would be great. This is kinda getting to be a bummer. Code: $ su # maya license problem in GUI mode launch dialog message QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme.
